6 types of men’s shirts and how to wear them

The T-shirt and jeans are the most democratic pair in fashion. You don’t have to be a man, you don’t have to be young or athletic to wear it. Everyone has or has had a T-shirt in their closet. And that’s a fact. It’s too democratic. It fits everyone. Although the main skeleton is the same, rectangular in the shape of a T, which is where the name t-shirt comes from, it has gained many nuances. Cuts, trims, differentiated collars and cut-out sleeves.

Today, the T-shirt can have many different guises and we’ll show you some of them here.

Traditional T-shirt

When we talk about traditional models, we immediately think of the one that everyone has. Yes, the one with the traditional cut, rectangular and T-shaped. It can also be slim, with a tighter fit, have lots of fabrics, prints, be destroyed, have washes, pockets, etc.

Creativity can go a long way and it can be used for many, many occasions. From the gym to the movies. From casual to tailoring. With pants or shorts. The traditional T-shirt goes well with almost everything. And the more basic it is, the more combinations are possible.

Camiseta longline

Be careful not to confuse this model with the next one. Longline is not oversized. They are two very different things. The long, as the name implies, is more elongated, while the over is much longer.

The longline model exploded in mid-2013/2014. It differs from the traditional model in that it is longer, but the shape remains intact and can even be slim fit in width.

The models vary a lot and you can find discreet longs as well as more exaggerated ones that go beyond the knee. It really depends on your style and taste.

This model, being more relaxed, loses a little of the democratic character of the T-shirt. Therefore, it remains in casual and street style looks. It doesn’t go well with formal looks like the traditional T-shirt does.

Camiseta Oversized

The oversized shape is wide in every respect. Width, length and sleeves. But oversized doesn’t mean relaxed or buying a larger size, because the shoulder seam, even though the measurements are wider, will be in the exact same place as if it were a traditional T-shirt.

There’s another aspect, which is that it’s often not even elongated;the overlap of the garment can be concentrated only on the horizontal part of both the body and the sleeves.

Always remember to buy the oversized model and don’t be tempted to wear larger sizes, as the garment was made to fit this way.

This type of garment is also more suited to a casual look, but it’s a good idea to create a contrast with a tighter bottom (pants or shorts) so as not to appear too relaxed.

Camiseta Henley

The Henley T-shirt is a special garment because it doesn’t have collars, but it does have buttons. It is also known as a T-shirt with a collar (precisely because it has no collar). Instead of a collar, the garment is finished in its own fabric.

It’s the kind of more formal garment that doesn’t really fit in with modern street style. It doesn’t go well with destroyed jeans or joggers. On the other hand, it goes well with tailoring or basic jeans.

Camiseta Raglan

The raglan shirt is distinguished by its A-line sleeves, usually with sleeves in different colors from the body. Unique cut, stitching and pattern, that’s the raglan difference.

Originally from American universities. However, it has gone beyond the sports world and has caught on with the guys, making it excellent for those who like a sportier look.
As we’ve already said, it’s only the sleeves that make it different, so it can be traditional, slim, long or over in shape.

The only thing it doesn’t look good with is tailoring, but otherwise you can wear it with everything.

Camiseta Polo

The style that generates the most controversy. It has buttons and a collar just like a shirt. If you think about it, it’s a hybrid, it’s neither a shirt nor a t-shirt with a normal collar. It has a collar and a few buttons, but the fabric is not that of a shirt.

It also has a more formal feel, but it doesn’t work with tailoring. To get rid of that lame look, avoid baggy jeans, cargo pants, etc. I prefer basic jeans in a slimmer fit.

The polo shirt can be part of your closet and make up a great look, you just need to know how to match it.

So, which of these T-shirts do you wear?

What's your reaction?
