Why Cristiano Ronaldo paints his toenails

Cristiano Ronaldo is on vacation and one of his posts on social media has got a lot of people wondering why he has painted his toenails.

Is it for aesthetics? Or is it for some reason?

Neither. According to the Bild newspaper earlier this year, the player and other athletes (from different categories) have adopted the practice of painting their toenails as a way of protecting them. Basically, this paint acts as a protective layer against fungi and bacteria.

But it’s not just today that he’s been doing this. The newspaper Sport published a story in 2016 about the fact that the player paints his toenails, and this has been going on since his first spell at the Manchester United from 2003 to 2009.

So, did you know about the benefits of painting your toenails?

What's your reaction?
