Many men are beginning to take an interest in the world of running, both by incorporating it into their daily lives and by taking part in running competitions (which are a lot of fun, by the way).
However, many people start training to run without being aware of their type of “step”. And this is extremely important, especially to avoid joint injuries.
There are three basic types of stepping, check them out:
PRONADA
As soon as it touches the ground, the foot rests on its innermost side and twists inwards, using the big toe to gain momentum. A variant of this step is “slightly pronated”, where the foot makes this movement less intensely.
NEUTRA
The foot touches the ground on the outside of the heel and moves slightly inwards, following a straight line until the toe rises. This is considered the “normal”step (without any variations).
SUPINATED
The foot touches the ground on the outside of the heel and continues the movement using its outermost side, gaining momentum in the little toe. A variant of this step is “slightly supinated”, where the foot makes this movement less intensely.
Confirming your step type
To find out what type of step you have, it’s best to do a foot test. “Baropodometry”This test, using specialized equipment, will tell you precisely what type of step you have. Some sports stores in major capitals offer this test free of charge.
But as these free tests are very difficult to come by and the exam is very expensive, a basic tip for finding out your type of footstep is to look at the result that will be marked on the sole of a pair of sneakers that you wear frequently. You’ll notice greater wear on the side where you tend to step and move according to the type of step we talked about earlier, or if there isn’t any, it’s because you have a normal step.
Finally, if you know your type of step, all you have to do is go to a shoe store or one that specializes in sports materials and look for the ideal sneaker for you!
Important
É important choose the sneakers you’re going to wear! Try to forget about aesthetics –because, honestly, running shoes tend to be very strange and usually have few color options. And don’t want to skimp…Shoes with impact absorption and the right technologies for each type of step will always be more expensive! Otherwise you could injure your knee or tendon and that could be more expensive than a pair of sneakers.
